Founder, President and CEO
Shelli Lara (pronounced Lehra) is President and CEO of Innovative Healthcare Delivery, LLC (IHD), a company she founded in 2012 to address barriers to quality healthcare and improve efficiencies throughout the healthcare system by helping patients in post-acute care settings get “the right care at the right time.” IHD improves quality outcomes and reduces costs for its health plan, hospitals, employers, and union clients utilizing a high-touch, high-service non-clinical approach to patient care. The company is a federally certified woman-owned business.
The company’s highly-trained patient advocates identify the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) for each patient which ultimately improves their quality of life and medical outcomes. The company’s mission is to understand each patient’s individual needs, advocate on their behalf, and ensure their pathway to recovery is free of obstacles.
With more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Shelli previously led the healthcare delivery efforts at the Culinary Health Fund. During her six-year tenure, she managed a $300 million dollar health fund which included oversight of strategic development, cost containment, program development, contract negotiations and staff development. Under her leadership, the fund was successful in lifting barriers to create greater healthcare value for its participants.
Shelli received a Woman of the Year award in 2014 from the Las Vegas Sun. A fixture in the health fund management industry, she is a sought-after speaker at healthcare workshops and conferences.
A California native, Shelli has an associate’s degree in business from Sacramento State University. She relocated to southern Nevada in 2001 and today, spends her free time with her two adult daughters and three grandsons.
Co-Founder and Executive Vice President
As Co-Founder of IHD, Michelle shared the vision of developing a mission driven company that focuses on improving efficiencies while enhancing patient experience in the healthcare delivery system. With 10 years experience in the healthcare field, Michelle’s key roles include managing operations and developing marketing strategies and initiatives prior to IHD, Michelle was a founding partner of ECCO Health, where she directed ECCO Health’s Practice Management division. During her tenure, the company maintained revenue growth of over 25% per year and grew it’s client base to over 200 physicians nationwide, which lead to ECCO Health being acquired by a large healthcare software company. She has extensive knowledge of the contracting, physician quality initiatives as well as revenue cycle management. At ECCO Health she had the opportunity to work with healthcare providers across the continuum, while maintaining partnerships with physicians nationwide. Her experience led to a unique understanding of healthcare delivery from both providers’ and patients’ perspective. A native of Las Vegas, Michelle holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the UNLV.
Chief Financial Officer
Robert Gentry, a native of the Rocky Mountain region, is IHD’s Chief Financial Officer, bringing to the company more than 20 years of entrepreneurial financial leadership in high growth, venture backed, emerging companies. Along with a deep financial background, Robert has extensive experience in building businesses for scale, funding, and mergers and acquisitions. He has a proven record of collaborating with boards and leadership on strategy and operations to build high performing teams over multiple companies.
Previously, Robert was a founder and CFO of Big Cloud Analytics, a data analytics company focused on providing insights from IOT-based wellness devices to insurers, clinical researchers, and artificial intelligence-based wellness coaching. Prior to Big Cloud Analytics, Robert served in financial and operational leadership roles with Acxiom Corporation, Convergys, Finali (acquired by Convergys) and Access Health (acquired by McKesson). He began his career as an auditor with Deloitte.
Director of Applications & Business Analytics
Wendy Jensen joined IHD’s leadership in 2016 as Director of Applications & Business Analytics and oversees the company’s critical business workflow infrastructure and data. Wendy’s areas of expertise include a deep understanding of the healthcare industry and operations, revenue cycle management and cost drivers, reporting and business intelligence, software development, training, workflow documentation and process automation.
In the 15 years prior to joining IHD, Wendy was a partner in a large medical billing company, Ecco Health, with a portfolio of over 100 medium-sized medical practices covering many different specialties. Wendy provided practice consulting services for these clients along with overseeing their daily medical billing operations. Ecco Health was acquired in 2013 by Kareo (a medical SAAS company), where Wendy was retained to oversee the company’s U.S. and international-based operations for its medical billing division and co-develop its software billing product offering. While at Kareo, the division grew to over 800 customers and 500 employees world-wide.
Wendy holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Reno. She spent 20 years in Las Vegas, Nevada and recently relocated to Oregon with her husband Jim and six dogs. They enjoy many outdoor activities including skiing, camping, biking and paddle-boarding.
Director of Business Services
As IHD’s Director of Operations, Jennifer Pyper evaluates overall business operations and performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics. She ensures contract duties are being filled and provides pulse checks to the executive team on new client implementation. She collaborates with departmental managers to create budgets within scope and provides conflict resolution services when needed. Jennifer joined IHD in 2014 as a project manager and was promoted to her current position in 2017.
Previously, she spent five years at Care More Health Plan of Nevada/Wellpoint where she was promoted to network relations representative after two years in a sales extender position. She began her career at Altius Health Plans as an associate customer service communications specialist. .Jennifer studied business administration at Utah State University. In 2007, she moved to Las Vegas from Salt Lake City with her husband and two boys.
